Experienced Civil Engineer *Established House Builder*

Taylor Herrick Recruitment are proud to be working with an established house builder who are looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to join them on a permanent basis.
Location: Buckinghamshire
Salary: £45,000- £55,000, experience depending.

This role includes the management of the day to day coordination/design of engineering projects according to the guidelines set-out in the technical department’s Best Practice Policy in order to provide a quality and cost effective technical function.

Key Responsibilities:

• To undertake the technical management of infrastructure and external works from design to adoption in accordance with the regional programme.
• To procure and manage a team of external consultants to undertake all designs required to deliver the built environment and external works.
• To carry out all necessary functions to assist the smooth running of the technical team
• Proactively review and challenge the information coming into the business to achieving pragmatic, coordinated and commercially astute technical packages.
• Liaise and work directly with the Design & Planning and Building Technology Teams to ensure that all designs are coordinated and cross-referenced and adhere to all the legislative, legal and physical constraints, thus ensuring that the most commercially robust, practically buildable and technically accurate designs are produced for tendering and building purposes.
• To respond to demands in workload you may be required to support and/or work within other technical specialisms as required.
• Liaising with stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of regulatory / statutory approvals.
• To allocate work to junior members of staff appropriate to their skills and experience if required

Education, training or qualifications needed:

• Bachelor of Engineering degree (BEng), or,
• Masters degree in Civil Engineering (MEng), or
• Or equivalent qualifications (HNC/D etc)
• Achieved incorporated or chartered status
• Be a member of Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE)

Relevant experience:
• Experience working within a residential house builder or relevant consultancy
• In-depth knowledge of the engineering function and its delivery
• Knowledge or other engineering packages (Geosite, Smart Engineer, Autotrack, Microdrainage, PDS)
• Understanding of changes to regulations and legislation
Special skills or knowledge
• Strong mathematical and IT ability
• Able to analyse complex data and critically evaluate plans
• Good understanding of budget management
• A good communicator/listener
• The ability to visualise and explain design ideas
• Good team working skills
• Accurate with an eye for detail

• Excellent communication skills
• Able to work under pressure
• Able to work with a high degree of accuracy
• A methodical approach to working practices
• Decision maker with pragmatic approach to problem solving
• Able to influence and persuade others
• A self-starter capable of creating and maintaining momentum in projects

In return, this house builder is offering a competitive salary of up to £55,000 plus package (negotiable dependent on individual experience).
