Planner / Senior Planner / Planning Manager

We are looking to recruit a commercially minded Planner to support the Planning Team within the Midlands Region, which build 650+ dwellings a year. This house builder currently covers key market areas across Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.

The key functions of the role will be to provide support in managing applications through the planning process and to assist the land department in the identification of future residential land opportunities emerging from the planning system within the region.

Key skills

The ideal candidate will be required to demonstrate a full understanding of the planning system, particularly the procedures involved in the identification and promotion of residential land and in the management of planning applications both at outline stage and reserved matters stage.

They will need a clear understanding of planning legislation and national policy, both new and emerging, that will affects the delivery of the supply of land for housing and the detail of residential schemes that are promoted.

They will also need to have a clear grasp of working thought the planning application process to deliver implementable planning consent(s) and enable a start on site. Therefore, knowledge of technical and commercial requirements of discharging conditions and working with S106 agreements is also required.

Effective professional and social skills are essential, as the role will involve working with a diverse range of people, including landowners, public and private sector professionals as well as politicians and local residents.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate may well be working within the planning department of a local authority or other regional or national house builder and will have completed an RTPI accredited degree or equivalent qualification.

Other skills required

A good level of computer literacy, ability to work under own initiative and being a good team player will assist the candidate in this role.
The candidate must hold a current driving licence.
