Development Planner

A well-known house builder located in the West Midlands is seeking an experienced Development Planner to join their growing team. The successful candidate will play a key role and will act as the main focus for the planning consent process.


In this Planning role, you will form part of a tightly knit team that must successfully integrate planning, technical and commercial aspects in order to deliver successful developments on time and on budget. Assistance in the management, strategic planning and promotion of existing land holdings / new strategic opportunities and the appraisal of planning policy documents for potential development opportunities will also be required in conjunction with the strategic planning team.


To be considered for this Development Planner opportunity, you must be educated to degree level in town planning and preferably be RTPI. You will need to have a strong knowledge of planning policy/legislation, gained through experience as a Planner either within a residential housebuilder or within a consultancy or local planning authority and experience in development control is essential with a clear understanding of the formulation, submission and determination of planning applications. Particular experience in dealing with housing applications- detailed, outline, S73 and Associated Conditions / S106 would be a distinct advantage. The preferred candidate will be able to demonstrate a previous strong track record in advising / leading successful planning applications.


The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, fast learning and hardworking individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with first class negotiation skills. You will be able to work on your own initiative as well as being a team player and have a good level of computer literacy with adaptable IT skills. The role requires a driven individual able to communicate effectively and understand commercial objectives.
