Meet our newest member of the team! – Harriet Jarvis

Harriet

1. What made you want to work for Taylor Herrick Recruitment?

After deciding the rush hour commute to Birmingham wasn’t something I was prepared to keep doing, I decided to look for work nearer to home. Natalie was immediately welcoming and it was clear that what I was looking for fitted in with what the business had to offer.

2. Who is your inspiration?

There is not a single person that inspires me but in general successful business women or women in science are a big inspiration. It is nice to see some big corporations now taking on women directors and board members.

3. What three goals would you like to accomplish by the end of the year?

With it being October now, I have completed my main goal which was to move roles into a company better suited to myself. Aside from that, I have a few personal fitness goals that I have achieved and Edinburgh is on my list to visit!

4. What do you enjoy the most about your job?

I really enjoy the candidate side of recruitment – talking to professional people and building relationships. It is nice when you are their first point of call when something changes or they just want a chat!

5. What do you like doing in your free time?

I am into keeping fit and healthy – I usually attend the gym 6 days a week and take the dog for regular walks. In complete contrast, I also enjoy going out for food and drinks at the weekend!

6. What is your favourite film, book and song?

My favourite book is The God Species by Mark Lynas – it is an interesting read. My degree is in environmental science and he suggests possible solutions to some of the problems experienced globally today. It is also interesting to read because it was published in 2011 and already some of the information presented is outdated, proving how much science is advancing. I’m not a massive film watcher and music wise my taste changes fairly regularly.

7. What quote do you live by?

You don’t get what you wish for – you get what you work for.

8. Do you have any bad habits?

Not necessarily a habit but I can get worked up/stressed quite easily and I need to learn to just stop worrying about some things!

9. What has been your best moment of 2018 so far?

I had a lovely trip to Italy over the summer – we visited Turin, Rome, Naples, Sorrento, Pompeii and a few other towns on the Amalfi Coast.

10. Where do you see yourself in 3 years’ time?

Hopefully successful at my job with a reputation as a good consultant. Also a homeowner.
