Business Development Manager - Criminal Justice Markets
We are working with an established global provider who is seeking to recruit an experienced criminal justice professional for their Business Development Manager role, based in London.
This leading provider focuses on Active Labour Market Programmes specifically directed at employability, adult skills development, enterprise and criminal justice programmes in the UK. As their Business Development Manager, you will have a sound knowledge of the criminal justice system as well as business development skills to include bid / tender writing and management.
This role, which reports to an Associate Director, forms an integral part of the business development team charged with leading and developing a business development strategy, monitoring the market, developing viable operational delivery models and successfully tendering through large scale public procurement exercises.
Role responsibilities;
• Take a role in working with internal and external partners to identify, develop and pursue tender opportunities.
• Undertake research to contribute to briefings and assessment of potential markets and provide research summaries to inform entry to new markets, in particular criminal justice, identified as a priority.
• Use analytical, communication and influencing skills to make recommendations to pursue/not pursue new business opportunities in the Criminal Justice, as well as Welfare to Work and Skills markets in the UK and globally.
• Develop high quality, logical, tender responses and proposals to time and to meet sufficient quality, which respond effectively to the requirements of tender specifications.
• Consult and evaluate supply chain relationships at all levels and to make recommendations to support proposals, bearing in mind current operational relationships across current contracts.
• Lead, coach and develop team members on specific projects to assist with delivery of the above responsibilities, clearly delegating work within tight timelines.
• Effectively handover winning tenders to the implementation and operations teams charged with their delivery.
You will be required to network effectively with external clients / stakeholders at Local Authorities, regional bodies and central government, particularly those in criminal justice including prison Governors, Probation Trusts, Youth Offending Teams and the Ministry of Justice in order to develop tender proposals which effectively respond to their needs.
An understanding of business development in a public sector context would be advantageous, as is commercial awareness constantly focusing on the cost and bottom line impacts of process and organisational design. You must have highly developed research and analytical skills.
