Vocational Tutor - Pre-Apprenticeship Routeway Programme (16 to 18 year olds). This is a Temp â Perm contract (LTD) offering Â£10 per hour.
â¢ Teaching qualification (PTTLS, DTTLS).
â¢ Proven support and training provided to 16 to 18 year olds
â¢ Be able to produce schemes of work and session plans.
â¢ Have experience of dealing with Awarding Bodies and assessment procedures.
â¢ Relevant experience in at least one vocational area and functional skills.
â¢ The ability to collate and record accurate and relevant information.
â¢ Good organisational and administrative skills.
â¢ Effective communication skills, oral and written.
â¢ Excellent knowledge of relevant vocational criteria and ability to apply these in teaching practice.
â¢ Have a good understanding of the Common Inspection Framework standards.
â¢ Ability to motivate and engage learners at different levels using a variety of materials.
â¢ Ability to communicate at all levels and use own initiative.
â¢ Ability to track learner progress and relevant experience working with young people.
â¢ Excellent organisational, time management skills and IT skills.
â¢ Ability to empathise with young adults and conduct oneâs self as a positive role model.
â¢ Creative with a proactive approach to learning.
â¢ Must be able to work competently with the minimum of supervision.
â¢ Able to demonstrate an understanding of different learning styles and how to differentiate through various teaching methods. Experience of dealing with challenging clients with a wide variety of barriers from diverse backgrounds.
â¢ Direct teaching experience and classroom management.
â¢ Good time management skills with the ability to work towards and meet deadlines.
â¢ Ability to communicate and motivate self and others in challenging surroundings.

â¢ Where you are required to work across centres you will need to hold a current full driving licence, have access to your own vehicle and have Business Insurance. Alternatively you will need to be able to access reliable public transport.
â¢ Assessor qualification A1 or equivalent
â¢ Level 2 Maths and English
â¢ Experience of implementing and delivering various qualifications with numerous awarding bodies
â¢ Experience of delivering Functional Skills with embedded vocational elements.
What youâll be doing:
â¢ Deliver vocational qualifications from entry to levels 1 and 2 including functional skills Maths and English.
â¢ Assess the needs of learners and use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to promote and support learnersâ learning.
â¢ Establish productive working relationships with learners, acting as a role model and setting high expectations that support the achievement of potential.
â¢ Carry forward the ethos of helping a young person to become employable, working in conjunction with other specialistâs tutors, not just through formal qualifications, but through social development, job search, interview techniques and other necessary interventions.
â¢ Liaise with key workers e.g. Youth Offending Service, Social Services, Connexions, to ensure stability for the learner whilst on programme.
â¢ Work with other centre staff to identify learners who are eligible for the reward system
â¢ Prepare resources, session plans and schemes of work.
â¢ Keep accurate records including lesson plans, schemes of work, registers of learner attendance, records of work, learner reviews, learner assessment outcomes and Records of Achievement.
â¢ Prepare and teach lessons that are challenging, giving comprehensible instructions to learners, engaging and enjoyable in order to ensure maximum progress and learning for all.
â¢ Complete lesson evaluations and set subsequent actions to improve lessons for future delivery.
â¢ Ensure all qualification criteria are covered in the lessons and continual informal assessment for and of learning takes place.
â¢ Manage assessments for each individual qualification.
â¢ To assess learnersâ work and cross reference the standards through qualification criteria.
â¢ Assess and monitor learnerâs progress on a regular basis and within established deadlines.
â¢ Keep an updated tracker of individual learner assessment progress.
â¢ To achieve monthly targeted outcomes of minimum 80% retention and achievement rate
â¢ To accurately complete all relevant paperwork in line with procedures and awarding bodies.
â¢ Ensure that all requests for internal verification activity are met promptly.
â¢ Implement any improvements identified as a result of performance review/ teaching and learning reviews and IV process.
â¢ Monitor attendance, punctuality and progress of learners
â¢ Apply appropriate strategies to ensure attendance and punctuality.
â¢ Continually improve the learnerâs experience which is determined from learner feedback.
â¢ Give advice, information and guidance to learners on the best progression routes.
â¢ Support colleagues and provide cover in the event of staff absence.
â¢ To liaise with relevant staff to ensure continuity of information in individual student progress
â¢ To participate in programme development to ensure a proactive teaching and learning service to all learners.
â¢ To undertake necessary in-house training and any training needs identified in appraisal.
â¢ Attend and participate in verification and standardisation meetings
â¢ To achieve minimum grade 2 in all internal and external inspections, monitoring visits and observations.
â¢ To undertake any other routine task, as required by senior staff.
